Operating Instructions Assembly: The MicroBioFridge consists of two parts: The power supply is plugged into line current (115 V AC or 230 V AC) and delivers 12 V DC to the solid state cooling module. Insert one or two aluminum cooling blocks into the module. Operation in the cooling mode: Locate the MicroBioFridge on the laboratory bench where the warm air generated by the unit can freely escape. Set the switch on the module to "cool". With two aluminum cooling blocks in the module it will take about one hour for the unit to cool to 4-8 degrees C. Once there, it should hold that temperature for as long as the MicroBioFridge is plugged in1. The cooling module can also be plugged into an automobile cigarette lighter socket for field work. However, to avoid running the automobile battery down, it should be used when the car motor is running.
1. It is the nature of this cooling device
to decrease the temperature about 18 degrees Celsius below the surrounding air
temperature. Thus, in an air conditioned room at 21-24 degrees C (70-75 degrees
F) you can expect the device to provide refrigerator-like temperatures.
However, if the room or car in which the device is being operated is hot, the
Micro-BioFridge will not achieve its targeted low temperature.
