The Tissue-Tearor™ is a rotor/stator type tissue homogenizer which can rapidly homogenize, disperse, and emulsify samples in 0.2 - 1000 ml of liquid.  During operation, the suspended material is drawn into the core of the homogenizer by a rotor turning at up to 35,000 rpm.  The material is repeatedly cycled through six narrow slits in the stator where it is rapidly sheared and disintegrated by high frequency mechanical action.  Complete homogenization of tissues (muscle, liver, breast tissue, etc.) is usually achieved in ten to thirty seconds.  Little, if any, heat is produced during the process.

Unlike most other Brands of rotor/stator type homogenizers, the Tissue-Tearor comes complete - that is, with both a motor and a probe (aka, generator, dispersing tool) - both included in one price.

See chart below for details on selecting the correct probe for your Tissue-Tearor.

Features

- Use for mixing, emulsification, shredding, or chopping.

- Practical answer for small samples.

Ordering Information

The Tissue-Tearor comes complete with a 35,000 rpm electric motor, one probe of your choice (select from chart below), and a plastic storage stand1 .  No matter what size probe you choose, all TissueTearors are priced the same: $6552.

Catalog Number  Practical Working Range (ml)  Probe Diameter (mm)  Probe Length (cm)
985370-04 0.2-5.0 4.5 4.8
985370-07 0.5-50 7 8.3
985370-141 1.0-1000 14 13.2
985370-XL 0.5-50 7 10.9

1 The Tissue-Tearor with the 14 mm diameter probe does not come with a plastic storage stand.

2 European voltage (220-240 VAC) motors are available: add $20 to the price and specify 220-240 volt operation by adding the letters EUR to the catalog number (example: 985370EUR-07).  Additional probes (generators) can be ordered for $446 each.  All are interchangeable with the standard TT motor.  Use Cat. No. 9853G and indicate probe size desired (example: 9853G-07).

Away from electrical lines?  The model 780CL Cordless TissueTearor includes a cordless motor, one probe of your choice, one rechargable 9.6 volt battery pack and a one-hour plug-in charger.  Indicate probe size desired (example: 780CL-07).  The maximum speed of the 780CL is 25,000 rpm. While the maximum speed is slightly slower than the line-operated TissueTearor, it is quite adequate for homogenizing soft tissue like muscle, liver, brain, etc.  The price for the 780CL TissueTearor is the same as the 985370 series: $655.  Additional battery pack (Cat #780CLBAT) costs $72.

Processing much larger volumes?  The Wiggenhauser homogenizer, a scaled up version of the Tissue-Tearor, is designed to disrupt or emulsify suspension volumes from 1/2 to 8 liters.  The probe, made of type 316 stainless steel, has a 30mm tip diameter and 22cm length.  The 500 watt motor turns at 10,000-30,000 rpm, variable speed.  A robust stand comes with the homogenizer and two different stators are included to cover all applications.
